A local Worcester pub recently held a week of varied fundraising events to raise money to support vulnerable people in the community.

Staff and customers at The Blackpole Inn, Worcester, raised more than £80 for YSS by holding a darts competition, as well as a raffle and cake sale. The bank holiday fundraising was arranged as part of the pub’s desire to support local community heroes in Worcester.

Ruth, who has been general manager at the popular pub for just over a year, said: “We have previously supported larger charities like Acorns and St Richards. This year we really wanted to find a local charity that concentrated on the people of Worcester. We were drawn to YSS as it is a very local charity helping vulnerable people of all ages, so definitely a ‘community’ charity.”

The generous donation of £84.70 will be used to provide community based support services to some of the most marginalised people in society, including children as young as seven who are acting as carers, families in crisis and people coming out of prison.

Lorraine Preece, YSS Chief Executive, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive such a wonderful and thoughtful donation. We are thankful to everyone at The Blackpole Inn for raising the money and for choosing to support YSS. With your support, we are able to reach more vulnerable people across Worcestershire and West Mercia who are in need of our help.”
