#MORSE successful in External Evaluation

YSS #MORSE is happy to share its latest news! The results of our external evaluation are in and they are a clear indication of the success of the service. Findings show that #MORSE is having a positive impact in our local communities as it has made significant improvements in the life of service users and their driving behaviour.

The improvement in the attitude of individuals referred to #MORSE for drunk-driving and drug-driving related offences is particularly encouraging. The wellbeing scores were also particularly encouraging and can indicate a factor of success for the service. This is part of the innovative approach integrated in the #MORSE strategy of facing problematic driving behaviour in a more holistic way.

#MORSE provides targeted support to address both the road behaviour that led to referral and any underlying issues that may be influencing the participant’s behaviour. Support areas may vary from safer driver training, emotional, practical support to signposting and referrals to partner agencies.

None of these results would have been possible without the support that YSS #MORSE receives from its partner agencies on a daily basis. #MORSE would like to thank each and every one of our funders, partners and all those individuals who embraced this initiative and made the success of the service possible.

We cannot stress enough how important the funding and support of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is to the operation of the service. Without these funds #MORSE would not have existed and it wouldn’t be able to provide the holistic, personalised support needed to change the bad driving habits of the individuals it supports.

We would also like to thank the West Mercia Police for their support and referrals made to #MORSE and YSS throughout the period we are in operation together. Operation Snap and the referrals coming from it have allowed #MORSE to make a substantial impact to the lives of the people referred to the service.

A massive thank you goes to the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. Their support in delivering the specialist one to one and group based sessions focused on the individual’s driving behaviour is very important to #MORSE and the contribution it has on improving driving behaviours of individuals in our local communities.

We would also like to thank the Offender Managers in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Telford as they have consistently referred people into the service over the last two years. Without that support from them a lot of people would not have been on the project. Without your support we couldn’t have worked with these individuals to produce the results presented in the Evaluation.

Lastly a massive thank you to the dedicated team of professionals: project managers, key workers, volunteers who worked hard to support the #MORSE service and to help the individuals across Worcestershire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Telford & Wrekin. The success of this external evaluation is the result of your hard work!
