Our aim is to encourage a culture of continuous professional development, where staff have ownership of their own development and are able to explore their career aspirations. We support personal development, identifying ongoing training and developmental needs and addressing performance as appropriate. Our policy is to train and develop staff, ensuring they have the tools to carry out their role effectively and at the same time give job satisfaction. The Application Process We adopt a non-discriminatory approach to the recruitment of new staff. All advertised jobs will have a job description listing the main duties of the post and a person specification describing the skills, knowledge and experience needed to do the job. Applicants will have access to and be able to download the relevant job description and person specification, guidance notes on how to complete an application form, information on the role and service. Details of the closing and interview dates will also be available together with contact details for any queries. Selection and Interview We aim to ensure that our selection process is fair. Short listing will be carried out by at least two people where possible and candidates will be evaluated against the criteria in the job description and person specification. Candidates can expect to be interviewed by at least two trained members of staff who will ask a set of competency-based questions, based around the skills required for the role. In some cases we will also use additional assessment methods such as presentations or a practical test but if this is the case we will advise applicants. We aim to let applicants know as soon as possible the outcome of their interview. Equal Opportunities We ask all applicants to complete an equal opportunities monitoring form and this information is confidential and only used for monitoring purposes. We will endeavour, through appropriate training, to ensure the staff involved in making recruitment decisions will not discriminate, whether consciously or unconsciously.
