YSS Accredited to the Matrix Standard

YSS is pleased to announce that the charity achieved a Quality standard and re-accreditation by Matrix for the high quality of delivery of information, advice and  guidance it provides.

YSS provides support for children, adults and families residing in Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire.

The charity was established in 1986 and provides services to enable people to build resilience after a crisis, trauma or adverse experience and works in partnership with other community services. YSS services are holistic, are based on 121 support and seek to address a range of needs, at times where behaviour change is needed, sometimes arising as a result of systemic problems.

The one to one support of key workers is very important ‘She never gives up even when I thought no service would take me as a referral. She talked to them and stood in my corner. I can’t believe I’m still here to be honest’. Key workers establish a relationship of trust with the service user over time and help them address complex issues. They genuinely seem to care and are interested in what happens to me, whether I sink or swim. I never feel bad about things going wrong because I can be honest and move on’ (service user).

The Matrix Standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG), either as their sole purpose or as part of their service offering. It is owned by the Department of Education and operated by the Growth Company on their behalf.

Roger Chapman, Head of the Matrix Service for The Growth Company said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for YSS and I would like to congratulate the team on their success. We believe that at the heart of high-quality advice and support services are strong leadership, excellent service and a focus on continuous improvement, all underpinned by effective use of the resources available.  The Matrix Standard is designed to benchmark organisations against best practice in these areas. With their accreditation success, YSS is working to provide the best possible support to their clients.”

Commenting on the award, Deborah Grantham, the YSS Director of Improvements and Innovations, said: ‘This accreditation is an important endorsement of the excellent practical and emotional support and guidance our staff and volunteers offer across all our services. We are incredibly proud and pleased that it acknowledges the passion across the whole organisation.' Debb Grantham

Catherine Kevis, CEO of YSS said ‘The Matrix Accreditation is an important quality indicator for our charity. I would like to thank our partners and funders for their trust and support. I would also like to thank our staff and stakeholders for their contribution and guidance during this re-accreditation process.’ Catherine Kevis
