YSS is getting behind Worcestershire’s annual young people awards run by Worcestershire youth charity, Young Solutions, and needs YOU to nominate your unsung hero.

The Tryangle awards, which take place every year, celebrate the efforts of those who, despite health, disability or social problems manage to overcome adversity and ‘get the job done’, at home, at school or college, or within the community.

Cat Illingworth, Service Development Manager at Young Solutions, said: “The Tryangle Awards are all about the ‘Tryers’, many of whom have had to overcome their own personal, health or other difficulties in order to volunteer or care, and recognising their achievements. Every nominated young person receives a certificate and the most outstanding are invited to the ‘inspirational’ Awards Evening held at Worcester Bosch.”

Nominations are welcomed from anyone and there are six categories including Good Friends and Carers and Bravery. Previous award winners include two young carers who are supported by YSS through the Worcestershire Young Carers service, Edward Edkins and Aleshia Layton Cooper.

Lorraine Preece, Chief Executive at YSS, said: “We are delighted to again be backing the Tryangle Awards which are a brilliant opportunity to recognise the dedication and selflessness of young people in Worcestershire.

“At YSS our Worcestershire Young Carers service works with over 400 young carers aged between seven and 25 who care for a parent, sibling or grandparent due to illness, disability, physical or mental health difficulties or substance misuse. We regularly witness the outstanding dedication these young people show, in the face of what can be very difficult circumstances.

"Nominations are open until Sunday 11 February. YSS will be making nominations but if you know a young person who is deserving of a Tryangle award make sure you nominate them today!”

Nominations can be made at www.youngsolutions.org.uk/tryangle-awards and they close on Sunday 11 February 2018.
